You’ve taken all the classes, done all the workshops, seen all the lectures, tried all the coaches.
So you’re ready to move on, right?
*cue Wheel of Fortune fail buzzer*
Here’s a little secret about being great at what you do:
𝕌𝕟𝕝𝕖𝕤𝕤 𝕪𝕠𝕦 𝕥𝕣𝕪 𝕥𝕠 𝕕𝕠 𝕤𝕠𝕞𝕖𝕥𝕙𝕚𝕟𝕘 𝕓𝕖𝕪𝕠𝕟𝕕 𝕨𝕙𝕒𝕥 𝕪𝕠𝕦 𝕙𝕒𝕧𝕖 𝕒𝕝𝕣𝕖𝕒𝕕𝕪 𝕞𝕒𝕤𝕥𝕖𝕣𝕖𝕕, 𝕪𝕠𝕦 𝕨𝕚𝕝𝕝 𝕟𝕖𝕧𝕖𝕣 𝕘𝕣𝕠𝕨.
Your training is your only foundation. It must be strong.
You can have the best headshots, the slickest resume template, the most polished reel, the tech savviest website, a gazillion slate shots, & the world’s best self-tape setup, but without the proper training & education, your success is limited. And finite.
Yes, your actor tools are very important.
But these are tools primarily used to help get you in the door.
We’ll happily work with you in the room until we can (hopefully) get you there, but there’s a trust factor that’s expected.
We trust you’ve done the work.
And by work, we don’t just mean be off book and read the breakdown.
All of it.
We trust you’re trained. That your choices are smart, intentional & authentic. That you truly know who you are talking to. That before you open your mouth for the first line, your headspace surrounds the moment before. You understand the beats. And you wouldn’t dare miss one.
We depend on that trust because our producers & directors are depending on 𝓾𝓼.
Think of it this way: you’ve worked really hard to meet a fitness goal you’ve always dreamed about.
Are you going to stop training?
What happens when you stop working out? Do you notice a difference?
Of course you do.
Acting is also a muscle.
It can weaken. And it can most certainly strengthen.
Word to the wise: as an actor, there are a lot of baskets where you can choose to put your eggs.
𝕄𝕒𝕜𝕖 𝕤𝕦𝕣𝕖 𝕪𝕠𝕦’𝕣𝕖 𝕡𝕦𝕥𝕥𝕚𝕟𝕘 𝕥𝕙𝕖𝕞 𝕚𝕟 𝕓𝕒𝕤𝕜𝕖𝕥𝕤 𝕥𝕙𝕒𝕥 𝕄𝔸𝕋𝕋𝔼ℝ.
Be intentional and mindful of where you’re placing your time & energy. And remember:
ᴡʜᴇɴ ʏᴏᴜ stop ʟᴇᴀʀɴɪɴɢ, ʏᴏᴜ stop ɢʀᴏᴡɪɴɢ.
