Actors: Let’s talk about the constant struggle to stay authentic and present while being cluttered by thoughts of keeping us “entertained.”
We hear a lot of:
“I know they watch so many tapes, I don’t want to bore them.”
“You have to grab them within the first few seconds.”
“The camera is always on you”
Which then turns into…
ACTING.
Acting and not… REACTING. Which of course (all you highly trained actors, you) know is NOT the goal.
If there was one sentence out of today’s #mondaymythdebunker that we hope you’ll retain above the rest, it’s:
𝕐𝕠𝕦𝕣 𝕣𝕖𝕤𝕡𝕠𝕟𝕤𝕚𝕓𝕚𝕝𝕚𝕥𝕪 𝕚𝕤 𝕥𝕠 𝕓𝕖 𝕡𝕣𝕖𝕤𝕖𝕟𝕥 𝕒𝕟𝕕 𝕣𝕖𝕒𝕔𝕥 𝕒𝕦𝕥𝕙𝕖𝕟𝕥𝕚𝕔𝕒𝕝𝕝𝕪, 𝕟𝕠𝕥 𝕥𝕠 𝕜𝕖𝕖𝕡 𝕦𝕤 𝕖𝕟𝕥𝕖𝕣𝕥𝕒𝕚𝕟𝕖𝕕.
And bonus!
𝘽𝙚𝙞𝙣𝙜 𝙖𝙣 𝙖𝙪𝙩𝙝𝙚𝙣𝙩𝙞𝙘 𝙖𝙘𝙩𝙤𝙧 𝙞𝙨 𝙣𝙖𝙩𝙪𝙧𝙖𝙡𝙡𝙮 𝙚𝙣𝙩𝙚𝙧𝙩𝙖𝙞𝙣𝙞𝙣𝙜 𝙩𝙤 𝙬𝙖𝙩𝙘𝙝.
This translates to…
– Not anticipating
– Authentically listening and not worrying about “doing too little”
– Not rushing beats
– Not taking unmotivated pauses
We give you permission to just do your craft:
1. Understand the given circumstances
2. Listen
3. React
So don’t worry about us. We understand your craft more than you may realize.
We see what you’re doing and we’re rooting for you.
