Monday Myth Debunkers: Your Acting Career Needs a Deadline.

Thanksgiving is almost here which means so is the dreaded question: “how’s acting going?”

But really, have you tried aunt Kate’s advice of submitting your resume to Warner Brothers? ;)

We feel you.

But before you decide it’s time to hang up your acting hat, consider a few things:

𝘠𝘰𝘶 𝘤𝘢𝘯𝘯𝘰𝘵 𝘵𝘢𝘬𝘦 𝘵𝘩𝘦 𝘢𝘤𝘵𝘰𝘳 𝘪𝘯𝘴𝘪𝘥𝘦 𝘰𝘧 𝘺𝘰𝘶 𝘢𝘸𝘢𝘺.

This career has chosen you for a reason. There’s an undeniable fire inside when you practice your craft and your passion for storytelling is unwavering.

Giving up may seem like your best line of defense when things don’t go the way you had hoped, but that fire is almost impossible to put out.

As actors, it’s important to remember that you didn’t sign up for a 2-year program. There is no “ideal” or “normal” timeline for an acting career.

How much work have you put into this career? How much time? Money?

Don’t you want to see what happens if you don’t give up?

It’s easy to get discouraged and some days it’s hard to keep going—and quitting feels like the easier option.

𝘐𝘵 𝘪𝘴.

But don’t take easy. Remind yourself this is a marathon, not a sprint.

Each day you are learning, growing, achieving more than you did yesterday.

Lucille Ball, Bryan Cranston, Melissa McCarthy, Steve Carell.

What do all these actors have in common? They didn’t get their break until their 40’s–after decades of hard work, low budget projects and a lot of hustle.

𝕎𝕙𝕒𝕥 𝕚𝕗 𝕥𝕙𝕖𝕪 𝕘𝕒𝕧𝕖 𝕥𝕙𝕖𝕞𝕤𝕖𝕝𝕧𝕖𝕤 𝕒 𝕕𝕖𝕒𝕕𝕝𝕚𝕟𝕖?

Before you think about turning out the light, remind yourself that you deserve to be here and you’re one step closer today than you were yesterday.
